Highest Saudi representation at GCC female journalists summit
Out of 25 journalists from the GCC member countries, Saudi Arabia sent six women - the highest turnout from one country at the the Gulf Female Journalists Forum that was held in Kuwait on Sunday. The undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah met with journalists and said that this forum was aimed at helping GCC female journalists exchange experiences and become acquainted with one another. "(...)I am very impressed to see the sheer number of Saudi professional journalists. They are intelligent and ambitious individuals and I hope this sets a precedent for future liaisons," he said.

Three Arabs on Forbes world’s most powerful women list
Three Arabs have been named to Forbes magazine’s 2012 list of the 100 most powerful women in the world.
Unsurprisingly, the three women who made the list all hail from the resource-rich Gulf region: Shaikha al-Bahar, chief executive officer of the National Bank of Kuwait, Shaikha Lubna al-Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, and Shaikha Mayassa al-Thani, chair of Qatar Museums Authority.

Saudi court overturns circular allowing men and woman to work together in shops
A Saudi court overturned on Wednesday provisions of a labor ministry circular that allowed saleswomen to work alongside men in shops, a lawyer told AFP. The court in Riyadh “abolished part of the decision by the ministry of labor which allowed shop owners to employ men and women in the same place,” based on a law suit filed by businessman, lawyer Mohammed al-Zamel told AFP.

UN criticizes Gulf states over women's job restrictions
UN human-rights chief Navi Pillay on Saturday criticized restrictions on women’s employment in some Gulf countries and called for those barriers to be lifted. “Women now have access to higher education in all six” Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Pillay said at a news conference in Abu Dhabi.
“The next stage, which I hope will quickly gather momentum, is to ensure all these educated young women have access to meaningful careers.”
