New online platform for Nordic women literature launched
Following a growing international interest in Nordic women writers, a new online platform for Nordic women literature was launched in Copenhagen on March 8th. For the first time an international audience is able to access more than a thousand years of literary history written by Nordic women.
The new site nordicwomensliterature.net is featuring more than 800 women writers from the Nordic countries. In depth material about iconic writers such as Karen Blixen, Selma Lagerlöf and Sigrid Undset is accessible free of charge at the site, which is available in English, Danish and Swedish. The promoter of the project is KVINFO – the Danish Centre for Gender, Equality and Ethnicity.
Nordicwmonensliterature.net is a digital web version of the original print work "History of Nordic Women´s Literature". When published in the 1990'es as the first of its kind it immediately gained pioneer status among scholars. The ambition to reach a broader audience was already present back then, and is now met with the launch of the digital, international version.
