'The Moroccan Purse' is a mini-documentary about a partnership project between the Danish Design School and 'Reseau Femmes Artisanes Marrakech' - a Moroccan cooperative of craftswomen, facilitated by KVINFO - the Danish Center for Information on Gender, Equality and Ethnicity. The film depicts the story of how an idea is conceived, developed and turned into a marketable product in a mutually beneficial process. – A process that not only provides knowledge, professional training and development for all participants but also encloses a cultural and personal meeting.

In Egypt 18 days of revolution in January resulted in President Hosni Mubarak’s withdrawal after 30 years of despotic reign. This crucial event in Egyptian history happened by effort from Egypt’s women.
In Morocco, single mothers, women divorcees and victims of domestic violence and abuse – those are amongst the marginalized groups of women in society; all in a daily struggle to overcome numerous kinds of major and minor obstacles. Nevertheless, there are also people in Moroccan society who assist, support and make the case for those women. And there are people with a positive and constructive attitude – stressing that these issues are severe and must be dealt with.
The stories from the two different corners of the Arab world were amongst the winners of the contest Positive Change in Action launched by the the 1001 Stories of Common Ground website earlier this year. The categories were Best video, which was won by ‘The Women of Tahrir’ by Yasmin Moll from Egypt and Best video on women’s rights, won by ‘On Moroccan Women’s Condition’ by Abdelhadi Zaatari of Dounia Project Maroc from Morocco.
The 1001 Stories of Common Ground website is a modern paraphrase to the famous “One Thousand and One Nights” - in the new version with ‘1,001 constructive stories relevant to 21st century issues.’ The site has a special focus on the Arab world while stories from that particular region often have a hard time making the media headlines.

- And how has the revolution had an impact on her life? Those are amongst the questions that you will get answers to through the project Video Messages: Words of Women from the Egyptian Revolution. The project has the aim of highlighting and documenting the participation of women in the revolution. It is also meant as a source of inspiration, empowerment and information to a broad target audience. The project consists of a series of video interviews with Egyptian women from all of Egyptian society and geographically diverse as well. Radu Mihaileanu is the name of the movie instructor behind the movie The Source (La Source des Femmes), that has been described as 'a modern-day fable exploring female empowerment in the Arab world'. The film takes place in a distant, North African village where women decide to use the only weapon they have – sex – and go on a "love strike" that challenges traditional gender roles.

Tha Saudi Arabian Filmmaker, Hana’a Al-Fassi's campaign “Work is Worship!” aims at supporting women who work as cashiers. The conservative Saudia Arabian society is underway with an official ban on women in these jobs, and a fatwa (religious calling issued by a celrical leader) has been issued demanding a ban on these women working in an - according to them - less than honourable environment of mixed genders.

On the basis of the powerful uprising with participation of an unpredecented number of women and the following withdrawal of ex-president Hosni Mubarak, the women of Egypt express their demands for participation, equality and recognition in a new and reformed Egypt.
