    Yemen: No Spring Without Women

    In February 2011, Umm Hashim, a 45-year-old mother and resident of Yemen’s capital Sanaa was glued to her television. For hours she watched the opposition channel Suhail broadcast images of injured protesters being rushed into the makeshift field hospital in Change Square. As tears rolled down her face, she vowed to go to Change Square and help in any way she could. Today, one year later, Umm Hashim has become one of the managers of the field hospital in Change Square who administers volunteers and checks on the medical supplies.

    Survey: Women not quite on top in GCC firms

    Despite all the talk about a reducing gender gap in corporate board rooms, women still continue to be in minority across the world. According to a new study Women On Board 2012 by recruitment platform MyHiringClub.com & NriJobPortal.com, the GCC scores low when it comes to women filling the top slots. The online study shows that countries within the GCC are at the bottom of the list. Of the 44 participating counties, Kuwait is on 35th position, Oman on 38th, followed by Bahrain on 40th, UAE on 42nd and Saudi Arabia at 44th position.
