    Egyptian National Council for Women to be reformed

    Mervat al-Talawy, the former minister of social affairs in Egypt will be replacing Farkhonda Hassan as head of a new and reformatted council, say sources to almasryalyoum.com. The change has been announced, however not yet in public, since anti-Mubarak feminists claimed that the council, initially established by former first lady Suzanne Mubarak, was promoting a false agenda of women’s rights, and not representative of the activists that have actually driven the revolutionary changes during the Arab Spring. According to the paper's information, new members will also be appointed for the council.
