    Kuwaiti woman minister pledges new approach

    The latest woman to be appointed minister in a Kuwaiti government has pledged a new approach to her performance and called for securing more rights for women.

    “I will see to work at the ministry based on a new strategy that will match its local and international dimensions and outreach,” Dhikra Al Rashidi, the minister of social affairs and labour, said.

    Danish minister for Foreign Affairs supports Arab women

    Minister for Foreign Affairs Villy Søvndal wants to support Arab women who played an active role in the “Arab spring”. To move the process forward, Denmark is contributing DKK 34 million. “Denmark wants to provide support and set an example of a society where women have a large measure of equal rights”, Søvndal told Kristeligt Dagblad.

New Manual for Women Human Rights Defenders
The Women Human Rights Defenders program at Nazra for Feminist Studies is launching its manual on Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) tailored specifically for an Egyptian context.The manual includes sections on Egyptian legislation and military verdicts used to constrain public action; regional and international mechanisms that WHRDs can utilize to report violations committed against them; and security tips that can be of special use during perilous circumstances.Nazra is a partner organisation to KVINFO.Read more at Nazra for Women's Studies.
